Equestrian Queensland Annual General Meeting
The Equestrian Queensland (EQ) 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held at Sports House, Milton on Wednesday 30 March, 2022 and via Zoom.
The business of the meeting included the presentation and adoption of the full 2021 EQ Annual Report and the audited financial statements for the year ending 31 December 2021.
The meeting was opened by EQ Chair, Mr Corey Keable who thanked all members for their dedication to the sport and acknowledged the resilience of the equestrian community following the recent weather events in Queensland and northern NSW.
In his address, Mr Keable provided an overview of the achievements and event highlights for EQ throughout 2021. Mr Keable made special mention of the achievements of two Queensland athletes, Kevin McNab and Kelly Layne who competed at the highest level of sport at the Tokyo Olympic Games and the performance of Queensland owned horse Romanos who through the generous support of owner Donnella Merrett was partnered with Paralympian Sharon Jarvis at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
In a year with challenges, Mr Keable was pleased to report that EQ had delivered an 8th consecutive year of membership growth and operating surplus for the 10th consecutive year. Mr Keable acknowledged the significant contribution of the EQ Board, sport committees and advisory groups who volunteer countless hours each year to grow and develop the sport.
"Equestrian Queensland has been very fortunate to have a highly credentialed and collaborative Board and I extend my sincere appreciation to EQ directors Nicholas Ballard, Naomi Lane, Jacqui Huppert, Jane Harms, David Holland and Gary Lung for their support, trust and contributions over the past 12 months” said Mr Keable.
Mr Keable also acknowledged the significant contribution made by Ms Jacqui Huppert, who after serving two full terms is required in accordance with the Constitution of Equestrian Queensland to stand down from the Board. Ms Huppert was presented with a gift from Equestrian Queensland (picture below, photo credit: The J'Taime).
After serving a full term on the EQ Board, Mr Keable advised members that he had decided not to renominate for a second term due to work and family commitments.
“It has been my absolute privilege to serve as a director of Equestrian Queensland for the past three years, both as Vice Chair in 2019 and 2020 and Chair over the past 12 months. I am completely confident that Equestrian Queensland is in very capable hands with the Board, sport committees and staff working constructively together to achieve the best possible outcomes for the sport” said Mr Keable.

2021 EQ Annual Awards - Virtual Announcement Presentation
At the completion of the AGM, attendees were invited to view the launch of the 2021 EQ Annual Awards virtual campaign with the announcement presentation.
EQ like many members, was looking forward to celebrating the achievements of its sport stars and luminaries in person this year after having to forego the annual awards last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, the ongoing situation forced EQ to reassess the delivery of the EQ Annual Awards and whist EQ was disappointed that the experience could not be shared with members and guests in person, we are delighted to deliver the EQ Annual Awards in a virtual format this year.
Congratulations to all finalists and award winners on your achievements and success in 2020 and 2021 and we wish you continued success as we move through 2022 and beyond.
Following this 2021 EQ Annual Awards Announcement Presentation, EQ will be releasing individual campaigns for each award category during April 2022. These presentations will be made available via EQ’s social media and member communication.
