#Hashtags – Make them work for you!

Ever noticed the list of Hashtags on virtually every post made on Facebook by EQ or one of the sports committee’s? Are you aware that these have purpose?

If you are not a teenager or heavy social media user, you may not realise the full power of a hashtag. Aside from identifying ‘trending’ topics, each hashtag has the ability to turn your Facebook into a search engine.

By clicking or tapping on a hashtag your Facebook will show you all the recent posts made about that topic. So if you are looking for a particular post that you just can’t seem to find you can use the Facebook search to find the hashtag or if you see another post with the same hashtag you can click that to find it.

Hashtags especially can make things easier if you have been offline for a few days and would like to catch up with what has been happening. For instance if you have been busy with study and want to see what news you have missed for Vaulting, simply search for #Vaultingqld, hit latest, and Facebook will do the rest.
