Statement to Members from Equestrian Queensland CEO Briston Toft

Dear Members,

On 9 June 2020, Equestrian Australia was placed into voluntary administration with Craig Shepard and Kate Conneely from KordaMentha appointed as the Administrators.

Further information has been published by EA and KordaMentha to provide members with additional information and advice about the decision to place EA into voluntary administration and the process moving forward. This information can be found on the KordaMentha and EA websites;

The key messages for members;

  • EA is currently solvent.
  • EA’s current insurance policies will continue and are unaffected by the Administration.
  • The Administrators will conduct a review of all policies to ensure the continuation of adequate insurance for all members, volunteers, clubs and coaches.
  • Voluntary Administration has no effect on competition, rules or the services provided by the State Branches.
  • All members are being encouraged to participate and contribute their ideas about the changes that are required to ensure EA is a viable, representative, democratic and stable national sporting organisation.
  • A page has been dedicated to Equestrian Australia on the KordaMentha website, to answer frequently asked questions from members which is available here -
    Frequently asked questions for Members
  • EA and the Administrators are in the process of creating a member portal to provide an avenue for all members to contribute their views about what a sustainable, safe and successful EA looks like going forward.

At this time we wish to reassure all EQ members that;

  • Membership benefits such as insurance, competitions and pathways will continue as normal.
  • Operations and activities of EQ are governed by highly skilled and dedicated volunteers on the EQ Board and Sport Committees and delivered by an experienced and committed office team to service the diverse interest of our growing membership.
  • Though effective management EQ has delivered six consecutive years of membership growth, eight consecutive years of operating surpluses and is in a strong financial position.
  • Supporting our members and volunteers who deliver equestrian events across Queensland is a key priority for EQ and always will be.

We encourage members to provide positive and constructive feedback through to the Administrators to support the advancement of Equestrian Sport.
