Member Protection Information Officers Course

Member Protection Information Officers (MPIOs) fulfil a very important role for progressive organisations through providing impartial information and advice to sport administrators and complaint handlers with regard to the Member Protection Policy of that sport.  This can greatly assist in managing members concerns or complaints appropriately before they escalate into difficult situations.

The MPIO Course comprises seven online modules (via the Play by the Rules website) which take approximately four hours total to complete, followed by a face-to-face workshop.  Completion of the online component of the MPIO course is required before attending the face-to-face workshop.  The online course can be accessed athttp://www.playbytherules.net.au/component/content/article/45-online-learning/1304

SRS is hosting a FREE workshop which is the face-to-face component of the course specifically developed for those individuals that volunteer or work in sport and recreation who have an interest in, or have been requested to fulfil the role of MPIO.

Full details for the upcoming face-to-face workshop in Cairns on 24 October 2014 can be found at http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au/news-events/events/?id=1149

At the completion of the workshop the participant receives a certification number, with both online and workshop certifications, and the participant is eligible to register as a MPIO.
