Biosecurity Developments

The health and welfare of our members and horses is paramount. Biosecurity and workplace health and safety measures are put in place to provide the safest environment for horses, competitors, volunteers and visitors.

These include pre-event planning, improved education, awareness and practice aimed at preventing the introduction of disease onto event grounds, preventing the spread of disease on the grounds, and minimising the effect and spread of a disease incident within the grounds.

Equestrian Queensland takes biosecurity seriously and always considering proactive improvements within its resource capabilities to reduce the risk of infections, diseases and pests at events.

EQ has recently appointed Bronwyn Hew and Cathi Collier as Biosecurity Managers, whose role is to support organising committees at targeted events to implement good biosecurity practice, improve education and awareness, and manage any incidents that may occur. Learnings will be used to continually evolve tools, resources to empower our valued event organisers to communicate with clarity and confidence to participants to deliver quality events.

Further information for good biosecurity practice and hygiene is available from the Biosecurity Queensland website
