Maria Schwennesen elected as Chair of Australian Dressage Judges Committee
Equestrian Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Maria Schwennesen as Chair of the Australian Dressage Judges Committee (ADJC).
Maria has a long and dedicated commitment to the sport of dressage including being an FEI 4* judge and mentor, EA judge educator, EA YH judge educator as well as being a past competitor in both FEI dressage and eventing.
Maria has previously sat on the ADJC and was re-elected in December. She was appointed Chair, replacing Kim Thomas, who had completed her term.
“I was thrilled to accept the role of Chair of the ADJC, and look forward to working closely with our wonderful team of members. I thank them for their confidence in electing me to this position” says Maria of her recent appointment.
The ADJC is responsible for developing and maintaining national judging programs and initiatives as well as supporting judges who enter the international FEI program. The standard of dressage judging in Australia is ever increasing, a result in large part to the tireless work of the ADJC.
A very active committee, the ADJC has a strong focus on education, assessment and accreditation of national judges. “One of our recent priorities is to ensure our judge and steward succession planning is secure and of high standard re education, from high performance through to grass roots level” said Maria.
Maria re-joins a team of exceptional committee members – Lesley Sullivan (secretary), Sue Bright, Jane Ventura and Virginia Creed.
