Eventing Queensland Safety & Cross Country Course Development Fee

Effective 1st July 2017, Eventing Queensland will introduce a Development Fund Fee of $20.00 per entry (to a maximum of 3 entries per rider) for all CNC, CIC, CCI & CCN events conducted in Queensland. This fee will align Eventing Queensland with other states who implement a Development Fund Levy for the benefit of riders and clubs.

Rationale

There are several areas of concern impacting Eventing in Queensland which our Clubs are unable to sustain.  The constant costs of upgrading and maintaining of equipment, the short supply of officials in Queensland and the significant fees associated with FEI competitions are hindering the development of the sport in Queensland.

Safety Equipment –
• Frangible Pins, Mim Clips and Spiro-fix units for securing portable fences. The FEI will be mandating the use of Frangible Pins and Mim Clips for various portable fences from the beginning of 2018.
• Two Way Radios for XC need constant upgrading.  40 – 50 radios are required on XC day. There must be a radio on every XC fence along with every member of the support crews required to attend on XC day.  EvQ are needing to upgrade the current supply of radios. EvQ may consider the option of hiring radios for each event. Eventing NSW hire radios for all clubs and pay the costs.

Technical Delegates and Course Designers –
• Officials are in very short supply in Queensland. Importing Officials from interstate and overseas to run Club events is an unsustainable cost. Costs that clubs cannot sustain.

Cross Country Courses –
• The costs of maintaining and upgrading cross country courses is placing a significant burden on clubs at all levels.
• Fences must be upgraded, maintained or replaced on a regular basis to FEI and National standards for the safety of our riders and horses.
• Footings and ground lines need constant attention. EvQ will eventually invest in an airovator to assist clubs with the maintenance of the Cross-Country courses.
• Clubs will be able to apply to the fund for financial assistance in maintaining their courses.

FEI Costs –
• You will appreciate that FEI competitions require additional Officials along with significant FEI fees.
• We MUST continue to run FEI Competitions in Queensland to enable our riders the benefit and opportunity to gain the necessary qualifications to further their careers in the sport without having to travel interstate.

Eventing Queensland, along with the clubs, cannot sustain funding these items and others from the current funding base. We believe to maintain and further develop the sport in Queensland, this fee is essential. It will benefit riders and guarantee the future of our sport in Queensland now and into the future.

This is your sport and we need your help in further developing the sport.
