Eventing Aspiration Award

Equestrian Qld is pleased to announce an exciting development for the sport of Eventing in Qld. The organising committee of the former Qld International Three Day Event have donated the surplus funds from the 3DE for the purpose of establishing the Eventing Aspiration Award.

In keeping with the QI3DE’s philosophy of assisting and encouraging Qld eventers to aim for elite competition, a $2000 award will be offered to a Qld resident horse and rider combination entered for the Australian International Three Day Event at either the 4* or 3* level. The award will be presented to a combination deemed capable of a top 10 finish at the AI3DE.

A selection panel of three, will choose an appropriate recipient when entries close for the AI3DE. The award will not automatically be presented each year depending on the quality of combinations entered. 

It is hoped that the award will motivate more Qld riders to commit themselves to reaching the elite level of eventing competition in Australia thus assisting with the promotion and advancement of Eventing in Qld .

The full details of the award are outlined below :-

1. $2000 yearly grant for 5 yrs
2. Awarded to a Qld resident horse and rider combination entered for the 4* or 3* event at the Australian International 3 Day Event deemed by a selection panel of three to have the best chance of a top 10 finish at the event.
3. The selection will be made after entries close for the AI3DE and after selectors are satisfied that the selected horse and rider combination are fit to compete.
4. If no Qld horse and rider combination is qualified for the Adelaide 4* or 3* or the selection panel deem that no suitable combination is available, the award will not be presented in that particular year.
5. Should the selected horse and rider combination have to scratch prior to embarking on travel to the AI3DE, the selection panel will have sole discretion to select another appropriately qualified combination if thought fit.
6. Funds will be deposited into the successful recipient’s bank account by electronic transfer.
7. The successful recipient will be required by negotiation to participate in or arrange a process using experience of the AI3DE as a means of promoting the development of Eventing in Qld
