Rockhampton Youth Come & Try Day

Equestrian Queensland (EQ) and Interschool Queensland (IQ) conducted a Youth Come and Try Day at Rockhampton on 6 February 2022 at CQLX Gracemere.

It was a very relaxed fun day where parents, juniors and their horses had the opportunity to try their hand at IQ. There were on horse sessions with Jumping, Dressage Protocol (Prep - walk/trot test) and Show Horse Protocol classes as well as off horse sessions learning more about the IQ program, horse presentation and horse welfare.

The day was aimed at new IQ participants or those wanting to gain confidence or try a new discipline and/or prepare for the upcoming Interschool Qld Capricornia Regional Championships event in March.

We would like to thank the following people who gave their time to support this initiative and also thank Gracemere Pony Club and Crompton Pony Club for the use of their jumping equipment and Rockhampton Equestrian Group for the use of their dressage arena and transporting all of the equipment for us.

Officials - Paula Barlow (Jump Judge), Marina Brand (Dressage Judge) and Trevor Hyatt (Show Horse Judge)

Volunteers - Fallyn Freihaut, Christine Tasker, Deb Doblo, Emily Ballard and Steve Brand.

Off horse - Clare Figueiredo from A Bit Unique (Bit Fitting Presentation)

Also a big thank you to Hygain and Saddleworld Rockhampton for providing products for the rider bags.

If you have any questions regarding Interschool or would like to be part of any future Come & Try days, please email Melinda Robinson [email protected]
