Queensland's Night of Equestrian Excellence: A Celebration of Talent and Dedication
On Saturday, November 23, equestrian enthusiasts from across Queensland gathered at the elegant Victoria Park for the highly anticipated 2024 Equestrian Queensland Annual Awards evening. It was a night to remember, filled with camaraderie, inspiration, and the celebration of outstanding achievements across a wide array of equestrian disciplines.
Hosted by the ever-charming Kendall Gilding, the event set a warm and celebratory tone from the start. Attendees from various equestrian disciplines, including Dressage, Driving, Endurance, Eventing, Jumping, Interschool, Show Horse, and Vaulting, came together to honor the exceptional contributions of athletes, volunteers, and supporters who drive Queensland's thriving equestrian community.
Recognising Excellence Across Disciplines
The evening commenced with the presentation of awards by the Sport Committees, recognising exceptional talent and dedication across specific equestrian disciplines. These were followed by the coveted EQ Participant Awards, EQ Next Gen Awards, and the prestigious Queensland Off-The-Track Leaderboard Awards, celebrating those who have made remarkable strides in the equestrian arena.
Hall of Fame Inductions
A particularly heartwarming moment was the induction of Irene Bakels-Noreen, and the duo of Derek and Rita Dobson, into the Equestrian Queensland Hall of Fame. Their invaluable contributions to the sport were celebrated with moving speeches that reflected the depth of their impact on the equestrian community.

Throughout the evening, inspirational speeches from winners and dignitaries highlighted the tireless efforts of volunteers, whose dedication behind the scenes ensures the success of every event.
